I’m sharing my Chocolate Strawberry Yogurt Clusters recipe using plain Greek yogurt, fresh strawberries, honey, and semi sweet chocolate chips, inspired by a viral TikTok sensation.
I saw a TikTok clip and immediately tried to recreate it, now i keep making these whenever strawberries are in season. Creamy plain Greek yogurt meets bright fresh strawberries in tiny frozen clusters that feel indulgent but light.
Some folks call them Chocolate Strawberry Yogurt Clusters while my kids just say Yogurt Bites, either name makes them vanish. The first bite is tangy and cold then little pops of texture make you pause and reach for another, its weirdly addictive.
I love that they look fancy but are totally doable, you wont believe how simple and fun these are.
Ingredients
- Greek yogurt: Thick, protein rich, tangy base that keeps bites creamy and filling, kinda tangy.
- Strawberries: Fresh, slightly tart, provide fibre and vitamin C, add bright natural sweetness.
- Honey: Natural sweetener, mostly sugars, gives chew a glossy sweetness, use less if you like.
- Vanilla extract: Tiny bit goes a long way, boosts flavor without extra sugar or calories.
- Chocolate chips: Add indulgent chocolate notes, mostly carbs and fats, pick dark for less sugar.
- Coconut oil: Helps melt chocolate smooth, adds healthy fats, a little goes a long way.
- Sea salt: Tiny pinch balances sweetness, enhances chocolate and fruit flavors, use sparingly.
Ingredient Quantities
- 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (about 16 ounces)
- 1 to 1 1/4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped
- 2 tablespoons honey, more if you like it sweeter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional but nice
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (mini chips work best)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil, optional, if you want to melt the chocolate smoother
- Pinch of fine sea salt, optional
How to Make this
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and get a small cookie scoop or tablespoon ready.
2. Hull and roughly chop 1 to 1 1/4 cups fresh strawberries, then pat them dry with a paper towel so they don’t water down the yogurt.
3. In a medium bowl stir together 2 cups plain Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey (add more if you want it sweeter), 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of fine sea salt until smooth.
4. Gently fold the chopped strawberries into the yogurt mixture, then stir in about half of the 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (mini chips work best) so you get little chocolate bits inside.
5. Drop rounded tablespoons or use the cookie scoop to place clusters onto the prepared sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
6. Freeze the clusters until firm, about 2 to 3 hours or overnight if you forget them.
7. While they freeze, melt the remaining chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon coconut oil in a microwave in 20 second bursts, stirring between each burst, until smooth. You can also melt over a double boiler if you prefer.
8. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the frozen clusters or dip the tops, working quickly so it sets neat. Return to the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes so the chocolate firms.
9. Transfer clusters to an airtight container or freezer bag, layering parchment between so they don’t stick; store in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
10. Before eating, let them sit at room temperature for 3 to 5 minutes so they soften a bit, then enjoy.
Equipment Needed
1. Baking sheet, lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat
2. Small cookie scoop or a tablespoon for portioning the clusters
3. Medium mixing bowl
4. Rubber spatula or wooden spoon for stirring and folding
5. Chef’s knife and cutting board for hulling and chopping strawberries
6. Paper towels to pat the berries dry
7. Measuring cups and spoons (2 cup, tablespoons, teaspoon)
8. Microwave-safe bowl or a heatproof bowl for melting chocolate over a double boiler
9. Freezer-safe airtight container or resealable freezer bags plus extra parchment to layer between clusters
FAQ
Viral TikTok Chocolate Strawberry Yogurt Bites Recipe Substitutions and Variations
- Plain Greek yogurt: Skyr (Icelandic yogurt), regular plain yogurt strained in a cheesecloth for 1-2 hours to thicken, or full-fat coconut/soy “Greek-style” yogurt if you need dairy free
- Fresh strawberries: raspberries or chopped blueberries, thawed frozen strawberries or mixed berries, or diced ripe peaches for a sweeter bite
- Honey: pure maple syrup or agave nectar, light corn syrup or simple syrup in a pinch, or brown rice syrup for a milder flavor
- Semisweet chocolate chips: chopped semisweet or dark chocolate bar (60-70%), milk chocolate for a softer taste, chocolate melting wafers or carob chips if you want caffeine free
Pro Tips
1) Pat the strawberries totally dry before folding them in, otherwise the yogurt gets watery and the clusters wont hold their shape as well; if your berries are extra juicy let them sit on paper towels for 10 minutes, or squeeze out a bit of juice with your hands.
2) Use mini chocolate chips inside for even little bites, and melt the rest with a teaspoon of coconut oil so the drizzle sets shiny and thin, then put the melted chocolate in a sandwich bag and snip a tiny corner for a neater drizzle, it beats trying to spoon it on.
3) For firmer, creamier clusters use full fat Greek yogurt or strain regular Greek yogurt in a fine mesh for 15–30 minutes to thicken it, adding a pinch of salt really wakes up the flavors so dont skip that if you like contrasts.
4) Work fast when coating with melted chocolate: keep the tray in the coldest part of the freezer so the chocolate snaps quick, and if you nick a cluster while dipping just patch it with a little extra drizzle, no ones perfect.
5) Store them single layer or with parchment between layers in an airtight container and squeeze out extra air, label with the date and eat within two weeks; when you’re ready to snack let them warm up a few minutes so the yogurt softens, they taste way better that way.
